Thirty Six Hours - 1965
Cats: Set Your Recorders, Thriller/Suspense, Action|On the eve of the D-Day invasion, an Army Major who knows where the action will take place is kidnapped in Lisbon. Drugged and smuggled out of Portugal to an “Army Hospital” our hero is aged, awakened and led to believe that he had been in a coma and World War Two has been over for some time. What these “doctors” are trying to do is obvious; get the Major to divulge where the Allied invasion will take place (or took place in this case) and they have just 36 hours. However things in this “hospital” and the people running it give rise to suspicion on the part of our hero. The question is should he let on or should he play along until the time is right?
James garner is Major Jefferson F. Pike, our not too successfully brainwashed hero. Rod Taylor is Major Walter Gerber the mastermind of this plan and who has a huge stake in it’s success. Eva Marie Saint is Anna Hedler, a concentration camp survivor who is threatened with re-internment if she does not cooperate in the efforts to gain the information much needed by the Nazi’s. This is a tense psychological thriller with a great script based on a Roald Dahl story. This is a great picture, see it.
